Travis County District Attorney Ronald Earle today released the following statement:
I have been asked to comment on H.B. 2491, a bill now pending in the Senate that would impact
Texas election law as it applies to the use of corporate money in political campaigns.
This bill represents the corporate camel's nose under the tent of honest public elections.
This legislation does not effectively preclude corporations from influencing the outcome of
elections in violation of the public's right to a free and open electoral process.
