Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle announced today that a Travis County Grand Jury has
indicted Reynaldo Ramon Canizales, a former Austin Police Department police officer, for two counts
of sexual assault by a public servant, a second degree felony, punishable from 2 to 20 years in prison
and a possible fine of up to $10,000 and two counts of official oppression, a Class A misdemeanor,
punishable by confinement in jail of up to one year and a possible fine of up to $4,000.
Canizales, age 35, is a resident of Round Rock, Texas. He resigned from the Austin Police Department
on September 15, 2007.
