Travis County District Attorney Ronald Earle today released the following statement:
Travis County District Attorney Ronald Earle today announced that the Travis County Grand Jury
has indicted former Austin Police Department officer Scott Michael Lando, 46, for aggravated assault
by a public servant with a deadly weapon, misuse of official information, 4 counts of delivery of
a controlled substance and 4 counts of prostitution involving official misconduct. Lando was
indefinitely suspended by the Austin Police Department on April 16, 2008.
Aggravated assault by a public servant with a deadly weapon is a first degree felony punishable by
5 to 99 years or life in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000. Misuse of official information
is a third degree felony punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Delivery of a controlled substance is a state jail felony punishable by 180 days to 2 years in a state
jail and a possible fine of up to $10,000 and prostitution involving official misconduct is a class B
misdemeanor punishable by confinement in jail up to 180 days and a possible fine of up to $2,000.
