Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg today announced that Juan Deanda, President
of Capitol City Disposal, Inc., a commercial waste hauling company, pled guilty to 26 counts of
illegal dumping of construction waste. Deanda was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine and was sentenced
to 3 years probation. For the last several months, Deanda has been working on cleaning up the property
and as a condition of his probation, the property must be restored to its original condition within 60 days.
On January 26, 2011, Deanda’s company, Capitol City Disposal, Inc., was also convicted of 26 counts of illegal
dumping. The corporation pled guilty and paid a $200,000 fine.
Deanda and Capitol City Disposal were convicted of illegally dumping construction waste to an
unpermitted site at 11204 Moore Road in southeastern Travis County. The investigation was
conducted by the Texas Environmental Enforcement Task Force. In addition to the Travis
County District Attorney’s Office, members of the Task Force include the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Travis County Attorney’s
Office and the Environmental Protection Agency.
